Parenting And The Internet Book Review
I was approached by the author, Dr. Todd Curtis to do a review of his new book, Parenting and the Internet. I agreed to review the book as I believe that it might be beneficial to me as a parent who is constantly on the internet. I received the book towards the end of last month but only recently managed to finish reading it.
Here are my thoughts about the book:
Target audience - Parents who let their child use the internet. These parents may or may not be using the internet themselves. Having said that, this book is also suitable for anyone who is responsible in some way for a child who is on the Internet or who is about to be on the Internet.
Content - Basically, this book emphasizes the importance of guiding your child in his online journey. Less tech savvy parents are also able to get a crash course on the basic of computers from this book so that they are not lost in this world of technology.
Parenting and the Internet explains the role parents play to ensure the child can avoid the hazards of internet and explore the wonders of it. The book also describes the need and the ways to protect our family's privacy as there are cyberbullies, child predators and unsolicited mails that may jeopardize our family's online safety and security.
In a nutshell - Personally, I enjoyed the book as I see it as a useful reference for a parent like me since my son will be starting to use the internet very soon. Every parent, from online novice to online expert, can use this book to help their child master the tools of the Internet while enhancing the online experiences of both you and your child.
This book is available for $12.95 (plus shipping), a 35% discount if purchased from the Speedbrake Publishing partner AirSafe.com. It is also available from Amazon.com for $19.95 plus shipping.
