From Son To Father

Though there were grammar and spelling errors, it was enough to touch the heart of a mom and a dad. In case you can't read the small writing, here's what the note said:
Dear Father,
Wish you always happy!!!
I'm very sad when I see you angry.
Please forgive me.
I will change my attitude.
I promise.
From: Ryan,
Your son.

The Under Achiever In Me

Perhaps it's coz I'm pushing towards the big 40. Perhaps it's the lack of self actualization. Perhaps it's too much of making comparison. I'm in this stage in my life where I feel that I am an under-achiever.

I started out young in my career, raring to go and working my ass off to finally oversee the Customer Service Centres in our region. My goal was to earn a certain "X" amount of income and hold a "Y" position by the time I reach 30. At age 27, I had a miscarriage which changed my perception of things. In a way, you could say that I dropped my career for my family. It was one or the other as I knew that if I remained in the same department, my family will probably need to take a back seat. I asked for a transfer to a department which were lacking in promotion opportunity ;P

Looking back, I've no regret in making that decision. I'm not a person who could juggle a successful career and be a good mom at the same time. However, now that my kids are older, I'm feeling a lack of challenge in my career, if that's what you call it. I'm surrounded by friends who are successful accountants, managers, engineers, business owners, etc. Can I list my career as "blogger"? LOL. Anyway, this is something that I would like to ponder on....perhaps it's a lot to do with kiasu-ism in me...

"If you deliberately plan to be less than you are capable of being , then I warn you that you will be deeply unhappy for the rest of your life. You will be evading your own capacities, your own possibilities" ~ Abraham Maslow

He Still Holds My Hand

Despite his age, he is not shy to hold my hand when we go out shopping. He will talk to me happily while holding my hand, without any thought about what the public would think of him. I know many will envy me......but I know it will not last for long because soon he will.....become a tween and then teen and then, he's gonna be too shy to hold mommy's hand!

Many 9 year old boys are already too shy to hold their parent's hands in public but mine still lets me enjoy such moments. I am thankful. Who did you think I was talking about if it wasn't Ryan? :P

The Big Kid's Surgery

This was taken on Wednesday afternoon after The Big Kid had his nose surgery. Nahhh....not reconstruction in a cosmetic sense. He has a sharp nose. If anyone needed that sort of surgery, it would be me! The Big Kid was suffering from blocked nose for sometime now and it had gotten so bad that he could hardly sleep through the night. Medications did not help, so the ENT advised him to go for surgery.

I hate to say this but men are really scaredy cats when it comes to dentists, doctors and surgeries. The Big Kid was not fearful of the surgery but I could sense his pain treshold was lower than mine post-surgery. Ngek. Of course, I couldn't help chiding him that I had gone under the knife more times than him and I could hop off the bed with no problem 3 hours after my C-sect. Muar ha ha *evil gleam* The Big Kid is resting at home, irritated because he still has a stuffed nose but the doc told him that this was due to the swelling and blood clot. He's supposed to feel better after a week.

Meantime, how do you guys like the sexy off shoulder hospital attire?

Is This Blog For Real?

I've been blogging for close to five years and though I can't claim to have seen it all, I am truly appalled by this story of a blogger who lied about her terminally ill baby through her blog. Though most bloggers do not disclose 100% of their personal life on their blogs (which is pretty much understandable), most mommy bloggers do talk about their children, husbands, house chores and a variety of their daily activities.

Some people have the knack to write entertaining and humorous posts while bloggers like me are pretty much boring writers. Nevertheless, I do not lie about my family. If I do not disclose, it is because I chose not to. I do not make up stories to entertain my readers so that they will come back to read my blog.

  1. I blog so that when my kids grow up, they will know this is how mommy remembers them.
  2. I blog to de-stress.
  3. I blog to share.
  4. I blog to network with fellow mommy bloggers.
  5. I learn from blogging. In fact, my kickass partner in crime just taught me a lesson - never believe everything you read on a blog, especially when it has to do with donations or money related issues.

Whatever the reason may be, one thing you can be sure of is the fact that this blog is for real. One day, I may decide to put it in "private" but for now, this is me and my family, mostly uncensored.....unless I chose to do so ;)

Ok...ok....I also blog because I can simply crap about anything I like....like what I am crapping about now :P
